Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah:“Sins make the face ugly.”

Ibn-ul-Jawzee: "I never get enough of reading. When I see a book for the first time, it feels as if I see a treasure. If I say that I have read 20,000 Volumes, then it is (even) more and I'm still reading." (Adab Shar'iyyah 2/374)

Shaqeeq al-Balkhee said:“The sign of repentance (is): weeping at what has preceded, fear of falling into sin, leaving evil company and maintaining the company of the good.” (Siyar A'laam an-Nubalaa, 9/315)

Al-Fuḍayl ibn ʿAyyāḍ: "Do not mix except with those who have good character; for the one who has good character brings nothing but good, whilst the one who has bad character brings nothing but evil." (Al-Bayhaqī, Shuʿab Al-Īmān, #87044)

Imam Abd al-Rahman al-Awzaa’i : “Whoever stands the night in prayer, Allah will make easy for him his standing on the Day of Judgment.” [Siyar A’laam an-Nubalaa, 7/119]

Awn bin ‘Abdillâh: “Those before you used to give to their worldly affairs what was left over from their pursuit of the hereafter. But today, you give to the matters of the hereafter the left-overs from your pursuit of worldly affairs.” (Abû Nu’aym, Hilyat Al-Awliyâ` 10:242)

Sa’id b. As-Sa’ib was asked, “How are you today?”
He replied, “Today, I am awaiting the coming of death without an appointment.”
