Our Everyday Mistakes

When we are stressed, we listen to music instead of listening to the Qur'an.
When we feel sad, we cry to our friends instead of crying to Allah.
When we feel angry, we scream instead of doing wudhoo.
When we feel empty, we go watch a movie instead of reflecting on the words of Allah.
When we feel cheated, we plan to take revenge instead of having patience.
When we don't like another Muslim, we gossip about them instead of loving for the sake of Allah.
When we need inspiration, we look into the lives of the wealthy instead of the lives of those who have been promised paradise.

Why do we look for peace and happiness in all the wrong places?
Do we not understand that engaging in the wrong behavior will only make matters worse?

Said Ramadan quotes

Our problem is one of spirituality.
If a man comes to speak to me about
the reforms to be undertaken in the
Muslim world, about political strategies
and of great geo-strategic plans, my
first question to him would be whether
he performed the dawn prayer in its time.

Allah Responds to the invocations of supplicants

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

(Surah Baqarah: 186)

the seed of goodness yields

"the seed of evil carries away, while the seed of goodness yields. The first ascends towards the sky faster but it's roots are short. It ascends faster in order to prevent the tree of goodness from light and breeze, yet the tree of goodness remains keen on it's slow growth, because it's deep roots in the soil makes it up for her"

Time to Kick Porn Addiction Out of your System

This article has been reviewed by resident MM Psychologist Haleh Banani (link to author). LINK to the post of MuslimMatters
We WILL help you KILL porn addiction inshallah. This article does not rely or recommend "coaches". Maybe in a year, when we have testimonials from people who have been cured–and stay cured–with such coaching services, I'd be glad to advertise their services. For now, please don't post any such services provided, because this would be just advertisement that I do not, in good faith, agree with or can recommend. This is my own opinion, not MM's.

Battling Temptation and Desire : Important to know

'Battling Temptation' is written by Hamdi Safwan in Suhaibwebb

You know Ahmad, right? He's that bro you always saw running around the masjid, coordinating events, making way for sisters, and cleaning up after everyone left. He was a prominent activist in the community, and was loved by everyone he met. The youth, especially, bonded with him, and they often sought his help with their problems—from parental control to dating or even sex and drug addictions.

The politicians cannot establish Islam

‎"The politicians cannot establish Islam: their sole aim is to gain power, by whatsoever means possible. And if some people use the name of Islam, they do so to achieve their political aims. Islamic da'wah (message) relies on tabligh (propagation of the message) and shahadah (testimony -- by observing what one preaches to others), whereas the main tool of the political parties is propaganda to achieve their aims.

The difference in the word propaganda and tabligh is not merely of semantics, but they are also world apart in their spirit. The purpose of tabligh is to disseminate the message of Allah faithfully in its true form fully and completely, while propaganda is aimed at making the movement succeed by all possible means, right or wrong. Propaganda is an art developed by modern political movements, and one of its prominent features is its indifference to all the moral obligations which the Prophets of Allah have always regarded as an imperative and a necessary condition for establishing Islam and the Islamic way of life."

What Allah Responded To Our Urges

My dearest sister has sent me a message, this is really wonderful and inspiring. May Allah give her the best reward.

"Oh Allah , I told you: I'm in pain
You said: Quran.. [39:53 ]do not despair of the mercy of Allah

I told you: nobody knows what is in my heart
You said: [13:28] Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest

I told you: many people hurt me
You said: [3:159 ]So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them

I told you: I feel I'm alone
You said: [50:16] We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

I told you: My sins are so many
You said: [3:135 ]and who can forgive sins except Allah?

I told you: do not leave me
You said: [2:152] So remember Me; I will remember you..

I told you: I'm facing a lot of difficulties in life
You said: [65:2] And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out

I told you: oh lord I need hope
You said: [94:6 ] Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

I told you: I have many dreams that I want to come true
You said: [40:60] Call upon Me; I will respond"

Al Andalus :: Kamal Hassan

Written by Prof. Kamal Hassan (Ex-Rector of IIUM)

O Iqbal!
The spring of 2002 beckoned my soul and body:
to witness the Muslim remains of Alhambra,
Cordoba and Sevilla,
To retrace your noble steps and feel the
vibrations of your ecstasy,
to feast my aging vision on the haunting
grandeur of Alhambra and
relish the matchless beauty of
the Moorish art…

Advice to the Youth: Be Productive, Follow Quran, Seerah

Alhamdulillah, this is an educative video. Abdul Nasir Jangda, Nouman Ali Khan and Wissam Sharieff was talking with the youths about some ideology crisis and refuting each other in the ummah. What they prescribed seems to me like:
  • BE PRODUCTIVE.
  • Stay away from using your tongue in refuting others and who is what.
  • Be concentrated to learn this Deen perfectly.
  • Learn Quran
  • Emphasize on Seerah where you can learn how Prophet (PBUH) did works in his life.

The Qur’an : Ustadh Khuram Murad

The Qur'an opens its doors only to those who knock with a depth of yearning, sincerity of purpose and exclusiveness of attention that befit its importance and majesty. And only those are allowed to gather its treasures, while they walk through it, who are prepared to abandon themselves completely to its guidance and do their utmost to absorb it.

It may therefore quite possibly happen that you read the Qur'an endlessly, turn its pages laboriously, recite its words beautifully, study it most scholarly, and still fail to make an encounter with it that enriches and transforms your whole person. For, all those who read the Qur'an do not profit from it as they should. Some remain unblessed some are even cursed.

Many never turn to it, though the Book always lies near at hand, but many are turned away from its gates. Many read it often, but come back empty-handed; while many others who read it never really enter its world. Some do not find, but are lost . They fail to hear God even among His own words, instead they hear their own voices or those other than God's. Still others, though they hear God, fail to find inside themselves the will, the resolve and the courage to respond and live by His call. Some lose even what they had and, instead of collecting priceless gems, they return with back-breaking heaps of stones which will hurt them for ever and ever.

What a tragic misfortune it would be if you came to the Qur'an and went away empty-handed - soul untouched, heart unmoved, life unchanged - 'they went out as they came in.'

The Qur'an's blessings are limitless, but the measure of your taking from it depends entirely upon the capacity and the suitability of the receptacle you bring to it. So, at the very outset, make yourself more deeply aware of what the Qur'an means to you and what it demands of you; and make a solemn determination to recite the Qur'an in an appropriate manner, so that you may be counted among 'Those whom We have given the Book, they recite it as it ought to be recited; it is they who believe in it.' (2:121)

Islamic Study

Just taken some plan to make myself productive and precise as a Muslim. I've finished downloading contents of "Establishing the Prayer: Fiqh of Formal Prayer", "Usool of Tafseer", "Usool al Hadith","Fiqh of Marriage" from Islamic Online University.

I have realized that our Deen Islam can be established really by acquiring knowledge deeply and employing that perfectly in life in every moments. So, this will be the first approach. Next step is -- what I will learn and realize, I shall be writing them in simplest language for my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters to go through as reminder.

I realize these days: what will go with us after death --  is the DEVOTION in our heart for Allah and to establish His Deen in our lives. And of course NOT THE RESULT. We can only try our fullest, the result is to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

The West's Long War Over the Middle East
By Abid Mustafa
---

"[We need an] Arab facade ruled and administered under British guidance and controlled by a native Mohammedan and, as far as possible, by an Arab staff.... There should be no actual incorporation of the conquered territory in the dominions of the conqueror, but the absorption may be veiled by such constitutional fictions as a protectorate, a sphere of influence, a buffer state and so on."— Lord Curzon

LOVE by Tariq Ramadan

"The love that transcends love is a love that liberates. It brings both fullness and a sense of contingency. We therefore have to teach our consciousness and our hearts to love in the absolute of the moment and in full awareness of time, to be there and to know that we will pass away"

spiritualities highlight the ambivalence and ambiguity of love; its different natures and its two faces. Love is an initiatory school in which we learn to make progress, to rise above ourselves and then to free ourselves, but it can also be a prison in which we are bound by more and more chains. We go under, get lost and eventually become totally dependent.
